The inaugural meeting and conference of the Institute of Pastures Protection Board officials opened today under the presidency of Mr. Geo. Valder, Director of Agriculture. Forty stock inspectors were present.
It was resolved that, in the interests of the officials, employed under the Act, an association be formed.
The conference adopted a resolution affirming its determination to assist in upholding the hands of those in authority in prosecuting the war until a victorious peace had been secured.
The president said there were many diseases of stock which had not been specifically studied. Now the Government had acquired an area of land for a stock farm, he hoped that good results would be obtained. A competent staff would be attached to the farm, and its success would depend in a large measure on the cooperation received from the P.P. Board officials in forwarding specimens and helping the staff to determine the nature of diseases and the best way of treating them.
