In the course of his address when opening the annual conference of the Institute of Stock Inspectors of N.S.W. at the School of Arts today, the Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Thorby) evoked cheers by declaring that swine fever had been practically stamped out in this State.
Mr. Thorby said that only by the tact of inspectors and cooperation with stock-owners could the department carry out its work.
"Keep ahead of the stock-owner in knowledge of stock pathology and husbandry," was the advice given by Mr. Max Henry (chief veterinary officer) to the gathering.
